As for VmWare Workstation 7, it is possible to connect or disconnect an USB device from the Workstation menu :
It is possible then to see the USB device from the Host platform when disconnected using the menu option : VM / Removable devices / device / Disconnect
Alternatively, it is possible to see the USB device from the Guest VM when connected using the menu option : VM / Removable devices / device / Connect
Now, how can I script that actions either from the Host plateform or the Guest VM
