We've been using VMWare server 1.03 and the VIX COM API to connect to it from a remote machine. Periodically, the automated process simply fails with an error due to failure to connect or the vmware tools fails to respond.
Does anyone know a best way to handle this? The vmware image is used for a nightly process and we rely on it being up and running overnight. The error says:
"Failed to login to VM Image: The command is not recognized by the Guest OS tools"
The thing is, this is one of two images on the same server that the same code is used to power off, revert and then power on and login to the system to run an automated test. One of the images never has this problem, the other does.
On the image where this problem is found, if I load the image and let the tools load and leave it for a little while, shut it down, then take a snapshot then it will work the next time. The problem always returns though.
Do I just need a longer timeout? The settings appear to be identical to the ones on the image that does work every time.
