vmrun and Debian

Is vmrun supported on Debian?

I ask because I can't seem to make a connection to my VM (which is running the latest VMware Tools on ESX 4.1)

When I run vmrun to copy a file, it says "can't connect bad username or password." If I use a bad password on purpose, then I get an authentication error.

If I copy the same file to a Windows VM, it works without a problem.
