Fusion 4 vmrun fileExistsInGuest results in "This operation is not supported on this guest"

HI,

I have a Mac Mini server running OS X 10.7.3 Lion - on this I have VMware Fusion 4.11 installed - using Fusion I created a virtual mac running OS x 10.7.3 Lion

Using the vmrun utility I am able to utilize the Power and Snapshot commands (start, stop, reset, suspend, listSnapshots, etc.).

I can't however get the Guest Operating System commands to work (listProcessesInGuest, fileExistsInGuest, etc.)  At first I figured out that I didn't have VMware Tools installed on the guest, so I installed them.  I still can't get the commands to work as now I get "Error:  This operation is not supported on this guest"

To the best of my knowledge I am licensed correctly (but I am new to Mac so...) and all the info I found online says that if you get that error to upgrade to Fusion 4...

Does anyone know what's going on here?
